To start, go into "Tools" and select "Accounts".
The Internet Accounts console will open up. Select
"Add", then select "Mail".
Now the configuration process begins.
Enter your name as you would like it to appear. Click
"Next" when finished.
Next, enter your Slashmail email address. Click "Next"
when finished.
Next, define the server configurations.
Be sure to select "IMAP" from the drop down menu. Also,
enter slashmail.org into both the IMAP (incoming mail) field and the SMTP
(outgoing mail) field.
Click "Next" when finished.
For this step, be sure that your account name is entered
correctly. Your account name is the username that you use to log in
to your Slashmail account when checking your email via the Slashmail web
interface. You'll want to select "Remember Password" if
not already selected.
NOTE: If you do not have physical control of your computer, it is
recommended that you do not configure your computer to remember password
information.
Do not select "Log on using Secure Password
Authentication (SPA)".
Click "Next" when finished.
Now you have successfully completed this part of the configuration.
Click "Finish".
Now, you will see your account set up in the console. Highlight
your account and click "Properties". You will now complete
the server port configurations.
Confirm that your information is correct here. Next, click the
"Servers" tab.
With this, make sure that the "Server Information" is exactly
as listed here. Also, re-confirm your account name. Make sure
that the "My server requires authentication" box is selected.
From here, click on "Advanced".
With the "Advanced" tab selected, make sure that the outgoing
mail port is set to 25 and select the "SSL Connection" box if
not already. For the IMAP port, enter 993 and select the "SSL
Connection" box if not already selected.
When finished, click "Apply", then "OK". You
can then close the "Internet Accounts" console. Your
account is now active and ready to communicate with Slashmail.org.
Outlook Express may ask if you want to download files form the mail server
- you may do so at this time.
Congratulations! Your account is now ready to use.
